I’ll always love Michael Jackson’sSmooth Criminalbecause it’s a badass song with a badass video. The man had a million songs that were amazing, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, Dirty Diana, Thriller, Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, Bad, Billie Jean…the list goes on and on and on.
I’m old, I guess, all over the internet people are talking about remembering when Black and White came out, I remember when Bad came out. And Bad? Bad was gooooood. Not as good as Thriller but still good.
The news of Michael Jackson’s death didn’t really shock me and I think that’s because, to me, it seemed like the Michael Jackson I grew up with died a long time ago.
Much like Ricky Bobby prefers to think of Jesus as “Baby Jesus” I prefer to remember the young MJ we all knew and loved in the 1980s…pre-Black and White.
And this, kids, in case you were wondering is the definition ofepic

The new Moby album, Wait for Me is available to listen at NPR.org. Tomorrow night at 9PM CST Metric will be performing live from Washington D.C. and, also tomorrow, the new Regina Spektor album Far will be available for online listening.
Barrel Monster creator Joseph Carnevale was arrested in Raleigh recently for larceny. Weak. I can only hope he has to pay for the barrels ($120 apiece) and doesn’t do any real jail time. If I were the owner of the construction company, I would have kept the barrel monster for my office.
My friend Rip sent me a text message a while back that said “Mt Dew in retro cans is made with real sugar…and it is delicious.” And he’s right. Mountain Dew Throwback is delicious.
My friend Meglet sent me a link to My Milk Toof which is cute and amusing. Something to read when you don’t have other stuff to do. I also enjoy Bad Paintings of Barack Obama and Texts From Last Night is my new addiction. It shouldn’t be, but it is.
Those are your bacon bits for now. This is your brain on Hogs.
NBC should just give up the ghost and put in a deal to stream the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s feed in the US. They really know what they’re doing when it comes to hockey and watching their broadcasts makes NBC look like the rank amateurs they are.
Jesus Christ. What a time to be alive.
Let’s go Pens!
It’s no secret that I love Camera Obscura. Their new video for Honey In The Sun just premiered and you can watch it, um, oh, how about now.
According to their record company blog Camera Obscura will be on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic tomorrow morning and you can listen to that here. They’re on at 11:15AM PDT. On June 6th they had sort of a awkward interview on Minnesota Public Radio, a recording of which is archived here. The live performances are so, so good, however.
And, just because it’s a wonderful video and I enjoy it, I leave you with French Navy.
