Totally random post, my third of the night. The other two were more structured than this one, I’m just posting random bits now.
First, I wish more marching bands would play “Love Rollercoaster,” that’d be pretty sweet.
Second, this is a really amazing song and I adore Neko Case.
Third, Jay Farrar and Benjamin Gibbard are doing Kerouac.
Fourth, Living Color is back. (And no, despite what you may have heard, Corey Glover is not related to Danny Glover.)
Fifth, Strange Famous Records is serving up a heaping helping of mixtapes with B.Dolan’s House of Bees, Vol. 1 and Sage Francis’ Sick of Wasting available for download free.

Via NPR’s All Songs Considered twitter feed I learned that you can get Fanfarlo’s new album for $1 and kids, it is gooooood. If this doesn’t inspire you to start following ASC, I don’t know what will. Not exactly free music but a doll hair ain’t bad.

The Dirty Projectors’ new album Bitte Orca is available to listen at NPR.org.
Thank Lemmy for NPR Music. I learned about it on the NPR News Twitter feed which is a good way to stay in formed.

My friend Naomi likes free music, she sends a lot of it my way so I send it your way, dear readers/listeners.
Witness the bad ass Sub Pop sampler she linked on Facebook. (Thanks for that one, by the way.) If you look at the bottom of the page you can see the Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought which has a bunch of other cool samplers available for download like the Anti sampler and a Daptone sampler.
Everyone should thank my friend Naomi for providing hours of new, free music. Don’t you wish you had friends like mine?
In other news, I still wish the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag was real.
Bitch Magazine has mixtapes, sucker. Check them out here: Bitch Tapes.
Word.
Also, badass 91.9 station director Loren posted Shaoln Soul on Facebook. Good stuff there.
Talk hard!
My friend Naomi made a comment that she likes free music and it reminded me about all the places I get free, legal downloads online so I figured I’d share more with you. First, Sage Francis’ Strange Famous Records website where they have many rotating free samplers, albums, etc. so check the MP3 Downloads section often. Currently Buddy Peace “Holy Chome” is available.
If you’re looking for interesting stuff to listen to, the Daptone Jukebox is always available. Through the Jukebox I found a pretty sweet blog, Voodoo Funk, which I’m obsessing over currently. Frank, from Voodoo Funk recently played with The Budos Band at Union Pool in Brooklyn. I have a few friends who may have gone to that show and I’m quite jealous if they went.
The archives of the Greasy Kids Stuff radio show are available online and though it’s a kids show, it’s a really good kids show that everyone can enjoy. The ever-awesome Little Boots has a free mixtape download on her site right now. One of my favorite magazines, Filter has a lot of media available here.
I leave you with Little Boots and her Tenori-on.
Stay tuned.
EDIT: Late addition, I found DatPiff buried in my links. If you’re into rap/hip-hop mix tapes, this looks like a pretty good place to start. Big ups to KSDB station director Loren Seeger for originally posting this link on Facebook. Hope you’re enjoying NYC, girl.
Merge Records may be one of my favorite labels. Their free2008 Sampleris still available, if you’re interested.
